Day 2 – February 12
Last night was day 2 of the Sand River revival. I have to say that the first day felt like there was something “off.” At first, I thought it was just the rain but as I prayed about it, it was clear that there was a resistance in the spirit. I found out last night that there are two AICs and a mosque flanking the church property. AICs are African Indigenous Churches. In some cases they are doctrinally orthodox but are just denominations founded in Africa rather than imported. Others are not so benign. They mix Christianity and African animism or some other false teaching to create a whole new religion that they try to pass off a Christianity. This is what we are dealing with in Sand River. These groups are physically and spiritually opposing the building of the church in Sand River.
In light of that, my message last night was on “Tearing Down the Strongholds,” focusing on 2 Corinthians 10 and Ephesians 6. The emphases were that 1) if you are a Christian then you are engaged in a battle; 2) you are not left without weapons but you have an arsenal of divine weaponry at your disposal; 3) the battle may take time, prayer, and fasting but you have the victory. We saw a powerful move as the people began to pray, worship, and celebrate before the Lord.
In the pictures today, I want to show you what’s at stake. There is a partially finished church on the grounds. It has been in this unfinished condition for three years. There is a church of about 60 people meeting in the shack pictured beside the new building. This is unacceptable, but the people must learn to fight the spiritual battle or the church will never thrive. I would appreciate your prayers for the church in Sand River; for their protection and boldness in the Holy Spirit.
