Phumelela Bible College

I was a lecturer and curriculum developer at Phumelela Bible College in the 2000s. It was a time that I recall with great affection. The teaching staff came from diverse theological backgrounds but we shared a common passion for the students. Unfortunately, the school has lost much of the power and effectiveness it once carried. At some point after I left, the governing body decided to remove the Holy Spirit and the power of Pentecost from the curriculum and student life. The downfall is evident in the lack of student enrollment and the state of the property. Where once there was nearly 100 students, there is now 12.

Tuesday morning I spoke at the chapel service at Phumelela Bible College. I challenged the students about shepherds or hirelings, choose what kind of leader you will be. It is in times of crisis that the leader’s decision becomes evident.

Tuesday night in Salubinza.

The rain couldn’t stop God or the people. We started about an hour late but the people showed up and, more important, God showed up.

Sylvester Thabiso contacted the counselor who manages the sports stadium in Salubindza to see if we could stay over for another week. The counselor who manages the stadium was surprised that we hadn’t called him earlier because he had heard so many good reports about what was happening in Salubindza. He enthusiastically endorsed the continuation of the revival through Friday, so off we go. The word has gone out and people are hearing about what God is doing in Salubinza.
