Sarah and I have just begun a month-long mission trip in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. This is a homecoming in many ways as this is the first place I ministered in Africa 25 years ago.
We have just started the first of our revival events and are looking forward to a powerful outpouring of God’s presence. Below is a summary of each night’s service so far with some pictures attached.
Day 1 – February 5
“God is doing a new thing.” That is the mantra of many churches in South Africa. Unfortunately, what they mean by that is that they are done with the foundational truths of Christianity. They want revival without righteousness, blessing without obedience, and grace without repentance. Wednesday night I spoke from Genesis 26, digging anew the wells of Abraham. The challenge to the people was to dig the ‘dirt’ from their lives so that they may experience the blessings of the spring water of the Holy Spirit. What a blessing to witness nearly 200 mostly young people come to the Cross, many to pray for salvation and others to repent of the ‘dirt’ they needed to get out of their lives.
Day 2 – February 6
Thursday’s theme: “Straining forward to what lies ahead.” So often we allow the failures of the past to limit what God has in store for us or we allow the successes of the past to make us complacent about what God can and will do. Do not be content with where you are. Don’t let the failures of your past hold you back. Don’t let the successes of the past puff you up. No matter where we are, we need more of Him who is able to exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.
