We are seeing results from our efforts and we praise God for each one. On Sunday, at Faith in Christ Church, three people gave testimonies of what God had done during the conference and outreach. One woman testified that she had come forward because of issues with her sleep. After the team prayed for her, she had no more problems. On the first night after she received prayer she said she was visited in her sleep by a man in a white robe. He spoke to her but I couldn’t tell exactly what he said. When he left she was completely at peace and had no more problems.
A second woman said she had been having pain in her back and legs. It was difficult to walk for any distance without having to stop and rest. She said that after I prayed for her, the pain left and she has been able to walk without pain ever since.
A third woman came up and testified that she had had a lump in her breast. She had gone to various hospitals in Uganda without relief for three years. When she came for prayer, I laid hands on her head and began to pray but the woman took my hands and placed them on her breast. Sunday, she testified that the lump is completely gone.
On Sunday Sarah and I went to Pastor Hillary’s church in Hadoda Village, and Brandon took Brenda and Blanca to Pastor Samuel’s church.
At Jesus Cares Church, Brandon spoke on “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Something that had been on his heart to do even before we left was to have a communion service. We later learned that many of the churches have never had a communion service before.
At Faith in Christ Church, I spoke on “God Makes Dead Things Live.” The altar call brought nearly the entire church up for prayer. We also distributed about a third of the Bibles. Pastor Hillary announced, “Who here does not have a Bible?” Many raised their hands so we formed a line and blessed each one with a new Bible in the Lusamia language. You can see from the pictures what an impact was made.
After a wonderful lunch at Pastor Hillary’s house we went to minister at the Musafu prison. I know that I have said this before, but this is not like any prison I have ever visited elsewhere in the world. They have a pastor, an assistant pastor, a praise team, a women’s pastor and a women’s praise team. Just about anything that you might see in an average church, they have at that prison. And all these positions are prisoners. Pastor Brandon brought the message on “Before Abraham was, I AM” which brought, by my count, 27 people to make a decision for Christ. Brandon continued and we prayed for their physical healing and then he led in a prayer for their families. It was a powerful time in the Lord.
On Monday, we began to work at Calvary Primary School. This school is run by Pastor Samuel Samanya. The children are curious about these strangers but they are quick to pick up what we are teaching. Abi taught the song “Every Praise” at both schools and they really enjoyed it.
The classrooms were much smaller than those at Faith in Christ. There were no desks and no electricity. The team has been improvising with how to present the lessons and, I believe, they all did an excellent job.
The first night of the Jesus Cares conference in Mayombe went very well. Pastor Brandon presented the material on Christocentric Biblical Theology to a full house of mostly pastors and leaders.
Tuesday was a special day as we had the privilege of baptizing 15 people from the Jesus Cares church. It was an amazing time and the Holy Spirit was moving in our roadside baptistry.
